12 month APAC indirect tax contract with a global tech business. GST and BAS compliance across Australia and New Zealand.
Senior Tax Analyst APAC
Contract | 12 months | Sydney CBD | $120,000 base equivalent | Hybrid 3 days in office
About the role
This is a 12 month maternity leave contract with a well established global tech business with significant APAC operations. The core of the work is indirect tax compliance including GST, BAS, FBT and WHT across Australia and New Zealand, with processes that are already well documented and in place.
You will be the go-to person for APAC indirect tax matters, working closely with finance and business stakeholders and reporting into the APAC Tax Manager. The role sits within a broader global tax team across Australia and the US.
About our client
Our client is a global technology business with a well-resourced tax function operating across APAC, EMEA and the Americas. The business uses D365 and SAP Concur and is actively embedding AI into its tax processes.
The APAC indirect tax compliance processes are mature, well documented and running smoothly. This is not a build from scratch environment. The right person will step into a structured role with clear deliverables and genuine exposure to a complex global group.
What you will be doing
The primary focus of the role is preparation, review and lodgement of GST returns and BAS across Australia and New Zealand, coordinating GST payments, and acting as the key point of contact for APAC indirect tax compliance matters including FBT, VAT and WHT. You will also support the management of tax audits, regulatory reviews and queries.
Beyond the core compliance work there is scope to get involved in governance and controls, including contributing to the global compliance calendar and internal control processes. These are well established with existing tools and documentation in place, and represent an opportunity for growth rather than an immediate expectation.
