About the Role

A dynamic and growing fund manager is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to join its lean, high-performing team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of core financial operations, drive process improvements, and progress towards Financial Controller and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly & Management Reporting:
Prepare management accounts, consolidate across multiple entities, and deliver insightful board and executive commentary, variance analysis, cash flow forecasting, and budgets.
  • Finance Operations:
Accounts payable and receivable, payroll (including superannuation, entitlements, and STP year-end), ensuring robust reconciliations and controls.
  • Audit & Statutory Reporting:
Lead annual corporate and AFSL audits, prepare statutory accounts (single entity and consolidated group), manage investor distributions, and address follow-up queries.
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance:
Prepare and lodge BAS, GST, PAYG, and non-resident withholding tax; coordinate annual tax returns and explanatory memos; support FATCA, FIRB, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Compliance Partnership:
Work closely with an outsourced compliance consultant to maintain policies, risk registers, committee papers, and ensure a healthy risk environment.
  • Funds & SPVs Exposure:
Operate within a funds management structure, supporting monthly pricing oversight and fund audit processes.
About You
  • Proven finance leadership in funds management or private markets, with strong technical accounting skills (consolidations, statutory, audit, tax) or first movers from Business Services/Outsourced CFO.
  • Commercial acumen to interpret results and provide clear, actionable recommendations for executives and the board.
  • Stakeholder management skills: able to partner effectively with Investment, Operations, external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators.
  • Process improvement mindset (automation, reporting enhancements—e.g., Power BI, tighter controls).
  • Advanced Excel and strong systems knowledge (Xero).
  • Resilient, detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative, with the ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced environment.
Why Join?
  • Impact: High visibility with the executive team; your work directly shapes decision-making and performance.
  • Growth: Clear progression pathway—Finance Manager to Financial Controller—with broader exposure across operations and funds.
  • Variety: Complex, multi-entity landscape (AFSL environment, wholesale funds, SPVs) that keeps you learning.
