Senior Commercial Manager, right hand to the Sales Director at a major FMCG business, Sydney CBD. 6-month contract, salary ~$220k+super.
This isn't a seat-warming contract. It's a six-month run in the engine room of a major FMCG business's Australian sales P&L — where the numbers are real and the pace doesn't let up.
This is a Senior Commercial Finance Manager role supporting the sales function of a nationally scaled FMCG business, based in the Sydney CBD with a hybrid working arrangement (three days in the office, two from home) — a six-month contract through to the end of March 2027. You'll work as the commercial right hand to the Sales Director, embedded with the team and reporting into the Commercial Finance Director, stepping in fast to cover year-end delivery.

What the role looks like
- Partner directly with the Sales Director and wider sales team as their day-to-day commercial right hand — building trust and credibility fast.
- Own forecasting and reporting for the AU sales P&L through to year-end, keeping the sales team accountable to the numbers.
- Assess the profitability of pricing and deal proposals alongside the revenue growth management team, bringing commercial governance to how they're structured.
- Lead a small channel-aligned commercial team, guiding their output without needing to micromanage.
- Monitor execution against recently negotiated agreements with major customers, making sure delivery matches what was agreed.
- Keep an eye on overhead spend and budget phasing, flagging anything that's off track.
- Solid commercial or finance business-partnering experience, ideally from FMCG or another fast-paced, high-transaction-volume B2C environment.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Strong hands-on Excel skills — comfortable building and working through your own models, not just reviewing someone else's.
- Confidence to challenge senior stakeholders constructively and ask the inquisitive question when it needs asking.
- A resilient, autonomous operator who brings a positive attitude to a team navigating a lot of change.
- Immediate start — the current incumbent finishes up shortly, so there's a genuine window to make a fast impact.
- Genuine exposure to senior stakeholders and high-visibility year-end and 2027 planning work.
- An enviable business that's genuinely hard to get into
- Flexible WFH once you're across the role and have earned the trust of the team.
