Build your sales leadership career AND have the adventure of a lifetime
This is not your standard Regional Sales Manager role.

This role is as much about the adventure as it is the career opportunity.

It’s the chance to live and work in Papua New Guinea, experience a uniquely fascinating culture and commercial environment and make a genuine impact in one of the country’s most established businesses.

Based in Lae, you’ll lead Pacific Industries’ second-largest sales region, build the capability of a sizeable field team and play an important role in the continued growth of the business.

Pacific Industries is one of Papua New Guinea’s most established food and beverage businesses and the exclusive PepsiCo bottler in the country. The business grew 70% in FY25 and is up a further 20–25% this year, with a portfolio spanning Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7UP, Mirinda and Pepsi Max alongside its own iconic local brands.

The right person won’t see relocating to Papua New Guinea as simply part of the job. It will be part of the reason they want it.

Additional benefits include fully furnished secure accommodation, a company 4WD for business and personal use, an annual return flight to Australia and yacht club membership.

What you’ll do

Based in Lae and reporting to the National Sales Manager, you’ll lead the Momase region across Lae, Madang, Wewak and Vanimo, with responsibility for a team of approximately 20–30 sales representatives and merchandisers.

This is hands-on commercial leadership, focused on developing the team, improving execution and unlocking the significant growth opportunity that exists across the region.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Leading, coaching and developing the regional sales team
  • Improving trade execution across pricing, planograms, call schedules, share of shelf and in-store standards
  • Building relationships across wholesalers, distributors and independent retailers
  • Using data and commercial insight to identify and unlock growth opportunities
  • Establishing stronger sales reporting, forecasting and performance rhythms
  • Improving debtor management, collections and route-to-market effectiveness
  • Working closely with warehousing and logistics across a complex distribution network

You’ll need the following experience and skills
  • Regional or State Sales Management experience within FMCG
  • Experience leading field sales teams across independent, wholesale or distributor channels
  • A track record of coaching people, building capability and managing performance
  • Strong commercial, analytical and customer management skills
  • A solid understanding of trade execution and what great looks like in-store
  • Resilience, adaptability and the ability to operate effectively in a different cultural and commercial environment
  • Most importantly, a genuine commitment to relocating to Lae for at least two years

Pacific Industries is looking for someone who can develop capability in others, tell a compelling story through data, persevere when things aren’t straightforward and make the complex simple.

About the company

Pacific Industries has been manufacturing and distributing food and beverages in Papua New Guinea since 1936. Today, the third-generation family business employs approximately 800 national staff and 50 expatriates across eleven branches and two manufacturing plants.

Since securing the exclusive PepsiCo bottling licence for Papua New Guinea in 2018, the business has entered a significant period of growth and investment, including a new Port Moresby bottling plant commissioned in November 2024.

Curious?

If you’re an FMCG sales leader who knows how to build teams, lift execution and grow a region and the idea of doing it in Papua New Guinea excites you, this could be your next great career decision and your next adventure.
