Great opportunity to support significant transactions for a large Infrastructure company in Sydney
Overview
A Sydney-based owner and operator of large-scale real assets is building out its transactions capability, and we're looking for someone to expertly lead it.
The business is moving into an active period of capital recycling. Divestments, partial sell-downs, and bringing new capital partners into existing assets. The deals are complex, high value, and run to tight timeframes, with the finance workstream sitting right at the centre of them.
You'd own that workstream from start to finish. Vendor due diligence and carve-out financials at the front end. Completion accounts, purchase price adjustments and the accounting positions sitting behind the deals. Then the part people tend to underestimate, which is standing the thing up afterwards. Transitional services, new ownership and JV structures, reporting to incoming partners, and making sure what was agreed in the deal room actually works in the ledger.
You're also the link between finance, tax, legal, commercial and the external advisers. A lot of this job is project management. Holding several parallel workstreams together, chasing the issues nobody has picked up, and giving the executive team a clear read on where things sit.
What we're after
CA or CPA qualified with a transaction services background. A Big 4 or equivalent Deals practice is the most common path in, though we're just as interested in people who've already moved into a fund manager, REIT or asset owner and seen deals from the other side.
Real depth in technical accounting. Held for sale and discontinued operations, consolidation and deconsolidation, joint arrangements and equity accounting, fair value. You should be comfortable writing the position paper and then defending it with the auditors.
You'll be working with asset-level economics, valuations, trust and JV structures, and distributions.
Strong project management ability. You can hold a critical path in your head, run a workstream involving people who don't report to you, and stay steady when the timetable moves.
Someone who works at pace without dropping the technical standard, and who's as comfortable in the detail as they are in front of the executive.
What's on offer
A well-capitalised business with a genuine pipeline of transaction activity ahead of it. Direct reporting line to the GM Finance, with visibility across the executive and the investment side. Sydney with hybrid working.
