Group Accountant, CFO-direct, large privately owned group, Northern Tasmania.
  • Direct exposure to CFO and senior leadership
  • Broad remit across a portfolio of group entities
  • Values-driven business: respect, teamwork, ownership and initiative
  • Group Accountant | Northern Tasmania
Permanent Full-Time | Up to $150,000 base + super | Relocation support available

A well-known, privately owned heavy industry group based in North Tasmania is looking for a Group Accountant to take full ownership of the end-to-end finance function across a portfolio of group entities. Reporting directly to the CFO and working alongside senior leadership across a significant global business.

    Job brief
This is a senior finance role with direct exposure to the CFO and executive leadership of a globally recognised heavy industry group. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the end-to-end finance function across a portfolio of corporate and investment entities, operating at the centre of a complex, diversified business with a significant Asia-Pacific footprint.

The role demands three things: delivering accurate and reliable group reporting across 6 to 10 entities; driving financial planning, forecasting and performance insight that informs decisions at the highest level of the business; and strengthening the controls, tax compliance and audit readiness of a group that continues to grow and diversify.

    About our client
Our client is a large and diversified privately owned group headquartered in North-West Tasmania, with a broad portfolio spanning operating businesses, investments, equity portfolios, manufacturing and other commercial activities. With significant scale and a global footprint, the business offers exposure to a complex group structure, senior stakeholders, and a wide range of corporate and investment entities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a broad role with genuine ownership, visibility and long-term stability.

    Requirements
    • CA or CPA qualification preferred
    • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
    • Experience preparing statutory financial statements end to end — not just supporting someone else's process
    • Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and tax compliance obligations
    • Experience managing audit requirements, supporting schedules and reconciliations
    • Previous exposure to complex group structures or multiple entities
    • Hands-on, inquisitive and comfortable owning problems through to resolution
    • Comfortable working with manual reporting processes and Excel-based management reports
    • Experience with MYOB Acumatica, Acuri or Tax Automate will be well regarded
    • Genuine commitment to being based in Burnie or relocating to North-West Tasmania

    What's on offer
    • Permanent full-time opportunity with a large, diversified private group
    • Direct exposure to the CFO and senior executives across the group
    • Broad ownership across a portfolio of corporate and investment entities
    • Salary up to $150,000 base plus superannuation, depending on experience
    • Relocation support available for the right candidate
