Fractional CFO | SME | (3 to 5 days/week)

An opportunity for a hands-on, tech savvy fractional CFO who enjoys owning the full back-end of a growing SME in the M&A Advisory sector — not just the numbers. This is a doer role, you need to be the kind of person that will get stuck-in without any direct reports

This is a fractional, office-based role (3 days per week, potential for 5 days) supporting a founder-led M&A advisory business that needs someone to step in, take control, and lead across finance, HR, admin, systems, and process. You must be tech savvy as the business looks to improve systems and data. You must also be comfortable in a small office working with only a few but dedicated colleagues.

What you’ll be doing:

• Owning finance end-to-end: budgets, cashflow, board packs, payroll, and oversight of offshore accounts
• Taking full ownership of a complex 4-way financial model
• Managing treasury, bookkeeping, and financial controls (currently fragmented)
• HR operations: contracts, annual review frameworks, policies & procedures
• Acting as the link with external advisors (lawyers, payroll, vendors)
• System ownership: Xero, Salesforce, DocuSign and wider tech stack
• Improving processes, creating SOP's, training users, and making systems actually work
• Operating as a trusted leader in a small, fast-moving organisation
• And any other ad hoc requirements which can be menial in tasks given this is a small business

• CA / CPA qualified
• You must have worked in a SME business
• Comfortable working hands-on — this is not a strategic-only role
• Tech-savvy finance professional who can own systems, not outsource them
• Experience across finance + HR + operations
• Confident leader who can operate independently with no direct reports
• Happy being in the Sydney CBD office and embedded in the business
• Someone looking for a longer-term journey (fractional now, potential permanent CFO/COO pathway)

• $800 - $950 per day | 3 days per week, potential for 5 days if that suits you better
• Fractional / temp-to-perm structure
• Initial focus on finance, HR, and admin with scope expanding based on capability
• Sydney CBD office location
