Our client is a large, multi entity group with an active acquisition strategy that adds ongoing complexity to its finance function. The finance team operates in a fast moving environment where priorities shift and the work is rarely routine, offering broad exposure to audit, tax, and technical accounting.
Responsibilities
- Support the year end statutory audit process end to end, including liaising with auditors, preparing audit files, and tracking open items through to closure
- Assist with company tax return preparation, supporting workpapers and reconciliations, including effective tax rate and deferred tax considerations
- Apply AASB standards to day to day accounting entries, reconciliations, and disclosures, and identify when a transaction requires a technical accounting position
- Work across areas such as leases, employee benefits, provisions, and equity or share based arrangements, escalating where further research or specialist input is needed
- Contribute to process improvement and optimisation initiatives by adapting existing trackers, templates, and models for new use cases
- Build financial models where useful, from cash flow forecasts to scenario analysis, though this sits alongside rather than ahead of the audit and tax workload
Requirements
- CA or CPA qualified, or in the final stages, with a background in external audit or a mix of audit and industry
- 3 to 6 years experience including exposure to tax return preparation or review and statutory audit processes
- Solid working knowledge of AASB standards with demonstrated ability to apply them practically in a live accounting environment
- Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a fast changing, less structured environment
- Experience in a multi entity or group structure environment highly regarded
- Strong written communication, able to summarise technical positions clearly for non technical stakeholders
- Available at short notice
