An urgent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join a leading member owned organisation within the healthcare and professional services sector on a 3 month temp contract.
This role has one clear priority: preparing statutory financial statements end to end.
The business needs someone who has recently prepared full financial statements themselves , not only contributed schedules, reviewed numbers, supported audit, or assisted as part of a broader finance team. The ideal candidate will be confident preparing financial statements from trial balance through to final Word and Excel accounts, including notes, supporting workpapers and audit deliverables.
This is a short term year end contract, so the successful candidate must be able to step in quickly, work independently, manage tight deadlines and commit to the full 3 month period.

Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory financial statements end to end using Word and Excel
- Work from trial balance through to final financial statements, including notes and supporting schedules
- Prepare accurate audit workpapers and supporting documentation
- Support the year end close process and statutory reporting timetable
- Investigate general ledger movements and ensure reporting accuracy
- Prepare and review journals, reconciliations and financial control activities where required
- Identify and reconcile intercompany and related party transactions
- Respond to audit queries accurately and within required deadlines
- Liaise with finance, investments, internal audit and external auditors during the reporting period
- Support technical accounting research and accounting papers where required
- Maintain clear documentation across reporting, policies, processes and controls
- Recent hands on experience preparing statutory financial statements end to end
- Strong experience using Word and Excel to prepare full financial statements
- CA or CPA qualified, or equivalent accounting qualification
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
- Experience working from trial balance through to final signed accounts
- Strong audit workpaper preparation and documentation skills
- Experience with year end reporting, external audit and statutory reporting deadlines
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Able to work independently with limited ramp up
- Available for the full 3 month contract period
- No leave planned between 15 July and end of August
- Comfortable working in the office 5 days per week during the peak reporting period
- Open to working additional hours during peak year end periods
- Working Holiday Visa candidates with relevant financial statement preparation experience are encouraged to apply
- Insurance, financial services, healthcare or regulated industry experience will be viewed positively, but is not essential
