Our client is a well-established organisation operating across Australia and New Zealand, with a finance function that plays a close and active role in business performance. The team is structured and process-oriented, with a genuine focus on financial control, governance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of month-end and year-end close for an ANZ business, reviewing journals, reconciliations and reporting packs end to end before submission
- Keep the general ledger clean and fully reconciled across all key balance sheet accounts, including bank, WIP, fixed assets and intercompany
- Get under the numbers on revenue and WIP, validating postings and ensuring working capital outcomes are accurate and defensible
- Own debtor and creditor performance, including aged debtor management and creditor balances, with a direct line of sight to cash flow
- Make sure the business meets every statutory and tax obligation on time, including BAS, GST and FBT, and be the main point of contact for external auditors
- Produce monthly P&L and balance sheet reporting that actually tells a story, with variance analysis across product and solution categories that the business can act on
- Sit alongside FP&A and the Financial Controller in budgeting and reforecasting, bringing the operational finance view into the conversation
- Work directly with Commercial, Projects and Operations, not just finance, to make sure financial execution is tight and performance is clearly understood across the business
- Lead a team of three across revenue accounting, financial accounting and accounts payable, setting the standard and making sure they develop during the engagement
- Spot where processes are breaking down or creating risk and fix them, whether that is a control gap, a manual workaround or a system issue waiting to cause problems
- CA or CPA qualification, completed or in progress
- Proven experience in a senior financial operations or accounting role, with direct team leadership
- Solid track record across month-end and year-end close, GL reconciliation and balance sheet governance
- Demonstrated exposure to revenue recognition, WIP management and working capital oversight
- Experience with statutory reporting and tax compliance including BAS, GST and FBT
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP or similar) and strong Excel capability
- Comfortable partnering with non-finance stakeholders across commercial and operational teams
