Job brief
We are recruiting a Finance Manager for a lean Sydney office within a growing ASX listed resources business with mining and development assets. This is a hands on, end to end role, owning finance operations plus listed cash flow reporting. The initial contract is 6 to 12 months with a strong chance of converting to permanent.
 
About our client
Our client is an ASX listed resources business with a small Sydney office and a lean finance function. The role partners closely with senior stakeholders and works with external accountants and auditors to deliver strong financial control and reliable reporting.
 
Responsibilities

• Own transactional finance end to end, including accounts payable coding, approvals, supplier queries, payment runs, and maintaining accurate ledgers through disciplined reconciliations.
• Run payroll end to end in Xero, including onboarding, pay cycles, super, leave, and payroll compliance.
• Own the month end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and close timetable management, keeping balance sheet reconciliations current and audit ready.
• Prepare BAS and GST and maintain strong supporting workpapers and compliance documentation, including payroll tax and related obligations as relevant.
• Deliver cash flow forecasting and cash position updates on a weekly and monthly basis, with clear commentary on movements.
• Prepare ASX cash flow reporting, including Appendix 4C schedules and commentary, and support quarterly reporting timelines and executive reporting packs.
• Support period end reporting across quarter end, half year, and year end, coordinating inputs with external accountants and auditors, and assisting with drafting finance sections for the half year and annual report.
• Maintain controls appropriate for a small listed environment, ensuring documentation, working papers, and reconciliations are consistently audit ready.

Requirements

• Proven end to end experience across AP, payroll, and month end close in a hands on capacity.
• Strong cash flow management and reporting capability, including forecasting and variance commentary.
• Experience supporting external reporting and audit processes, ideally in an ASX listed or similarly regulated environment.
• Comfortable operating in a lean environment with minimal handholding and high accountability.
• Experience with Xero or MYOB or similar is required, along with strong Excel skills.
• Nice to have: exposure to ASX reporting requirements, including Appendix 4C, 4D, 4E, and prior resources or mining sector experience.
• CA or CPA preferred.
