Finance Business Partner needed for a high-stakes regulatory submission. Sydney, 12-month contract ~$200k salary. Financial Modelling Regulated Assets
This isn't a role where you quietly update a spreadsheet once a quarter. It's a seat inside the engine room of a major regulatory infrastructure business — where the numbers you build feed directly into a large-scale submission, and the scrutiny is real.
This is a 12-month contract with a major regulated heavy asset business, supporting a significant a project. You'll report to a Senior Finance Business Partner and work at the intersection of finance, operations, delivery, and technology teams, translating business-unit data into the inputs that drive the model.
You'll be stepping in during a high-intensity phase of the project, in the lead-up to a major submission. Immediate start.

What the role looks like
- Business partner across a whole-of-business regulatory project — working with operational, delivery, and technology teams to build out a long-term investment pipeline.
- Translate business-unit cost and project data into regulatory model inputs, feeding a major submission
- Apply a due diligence mindset to the numbers — questioning whether they stack up, not just running with what you're given.
- Support senior leadership and external stakeholder engagement with clear, well-modelled numbers and analysis.
- Work closely with a broader regulation and strategy team as the program scope continues to mature.
- Deliver ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making through a high-intensity period.
- Build strong working relationships across the business to source and validate the data behind the model.
- Solid experience as a finance business partner, ideally with exposure to a regulated asset business (energy, water, telco, or similar) — this is highly regarded
- Excellent financial modelling skills — comfortable building, updating, and interrogating complex Excel models.
- A due diligence mindset — comfortable challenging numbers and asking the hard questions before they go up the line.
- An understanding of regulatory frameworks in a capital-intensive, regulated environment; an accounting background helps but isn't the main game.
- A hands-on approach — happy to work directly with the business to chase down, extract, and validate data.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills — confident presenting to executives and external stakeholders.
- Solid time management — able to juggle competing priorities through a high-intensity project phase.
- Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline; CA, CPA, or CIMA highly regarded.
- Immediate start available.
- A genuine seat at the table on a major regulatory program, with high visibility to senior leadership
- CBD location, flexible working
- A rare chance to build on regulated-industry experience
