About the role
This Chief Financial Officer role is Melbourne-based and office-based, with an executive remuneration package. Reporting to the Managing Director and sitting on the Board, you will lead the Finance function, and be the finance partner the MD can rely on to run the numbers, the governance and the conversation with the executive team. The role entails the following:
- Build FP&A and business partnering into a sharper commercial capability that tells the ELT where the business is heading, not just where it has been
- Lead the finance function across financial control, governance, treasury and risk, lifting team performance and building a succession bench
- Build the financial confidence of the ELT by explaining margin, working capital, cash flow and trade-offs in plain language
- Challenge assumptions constructively and hold the business to plan, budget, forecast and strategic targets
- Help drive the IT strategy, including vendor and cost management, cyber risk and getting full value from newly implemented systems
- Support acquisitions, integration and group-level finance activity as the business continues to grow
- Proven CFO or equivalent in a large, complex business. This is not a first CFO role: you have run the numbers at scale and learned from it
- Confident to say "I think you're wrong" and equally comfortable hearing "you're right", with the humility and EQ to do both
- A hands-on, commercial operator who is across product, margin and cash, and can explain complex finance to anyone from the Board to the shop floor
- Product led industries: Industrial, Retail, FMCG and distribution backgrounds all translate. Private, family-owned or PE-backed experience is a real plus
- Leads with energy and care, with a track record of developing people and lifting the performance of established teams
- CA/CPA qualified, with MBA or AICD advantageous
