CFO Incubator Breakfast with Martyn Roberts, Group CFO Coca-Cola Amatil

Our final breakfast for [axr]’s CFO Incubator program was addressed by Martyn Roberts, the Group Chief Financial Officer of Coca-Cola Amatil.
Martyn provided a very insightful account of his career to date, which commenced in Chartered Accounting with Coopers & Lybrand and progressed to senior finance roles with Louis Vuitton, in Australia and abroad, followed by a range of senior leadership roles at Woolworths.
Using his own career as a reference point, Martyn described how he proactively sought out specific career development opportunities to help him broaden his skill set. At Woolworths this included Divisional CFO roles with Dick Smith and the Supermarkets Division, which he was able to expand further into Group functions such as mergers and acquisitions, strategy, investor relations and financial control and even a General Management role for Woolworth’s petrol business. These roles provided the foundations and requisite experience for him to progress his career to that of Chief Financial Officer for an iconic ASX listed business such as Coca-Cola Amatil.
Watch our video on the 3 pieces of advice that Martyn provided to our aspiring CFOs, in terms of what they need to focus on in developing their career and obtaining the role of CFO.

We are grateful to Martyn for sharing his candid perspectives and advice on how to accelerate career advancement as Accounting and Finance professionals.
